The Umbilical Brothers – Speedmouse

Summer Solstice Light Spectacle

The Summer Solstice Light Spectacle, a dazzling light display, is a natural phenomenon unique in the southern hemisphere.

It occurs throughout December and early January.

Due to the alignment of the sun over the Tropic of Capricorn brilliant direct sun light penetrates the darkness of the Belfry Cave through a 14 metre vertical shaft in the cave roof at midday.

The effect is electrifying. The colour of peoples clothing is reflected all round the cave walls and a disco mirror ball creates light patterns on the roof.

This is a special experience for visitors and a delight for photographers.

Mount Morgan Christmas Tree Festival

The Mount Morgan Christmas Tree Festival is set to “make the season bright” for Mount Morgan locals and visitors when the Mount Morgan School of Arts is decorated with an impressive display of Christmas Trees.

Along with the dazzling tree and light displays, browse the market stalls with selections of gifts at affordable prices, relax and listen to the live entertainment from various local artists and enjoy food and refreshments.

There's heaps for the children to do including free balloons, lollies, and on the Saturday there will be free amusement rides. Santa will visit each night with treats for the children.
One Hot Night

The Great Australia Day Beach Party

The Great Australia Day Beach Party has well-earned reputation as one of the biggest and best Australia Day events in the State.

With the availability of the Keppel Kraken Water Play Area, this year’s event will undoubtedly be one of the best ever with a jam-packed 12 hour non-stop entertainment and beach fun activity program. Check it out!

Activities include the Sand Sculpture Competition, Beach Games, Face Painting, WOW Balls and entertainment for young and old. A sensational program of entertainment and family fun.

There will a sensational 10 hour marathon stage program featuring national headline acts, bands, dancers, circus performers and a showcase of other CQ talent.

Come along and start your day with a Fun Run then go on to enjoy games like Tug O War, Bare Bottom Boat Regatta, Sand Castle Competition and many many more.

For early birds, things start at 8am with market stalls, arts ad crafts, food and refreshments, along with street theatre and rides to entertain the kids.

Australia Day wouldn’t be the same without fireworks. The party concludes at 8pm with the JRT Monster Fireworks Finale.

School Holiday Activities

Archer Park Rail Museum will be holding special activities for kids during the Queensland school holidays. Climb aboard the restored carriages, change the signals and use the antique phones.

The activities will include having questionnaires for the older kids - answers found throughout the Museum, colour in table and block mat for the toddlers.

The Tram will operate on each Wednesday and on other days when a driver is available you can experience a Section Car ride.

Gemboree 2019

The Gemboree is a national annual event supported by the Australian Federation of Lapidary and Allied Crafts Association Incorporated.

The 2019 Gemboree is being hosted by the Queensland Gem Clubs Association Incorporated and is being held in Rockhampton.

The Gemboree will attract competitors from all over Australia and Internationally and traders from all over Australia. Traders may sell only items related to lapidary.

As well as the competition and trading there will be demonstrations and workshops of lapidary related skills.

Marlborough Show

The annual Marlborough Agricultural Show is organised by a committee that is made up entirely of volunteers, including residents and business owners from the local area. This volunteerism has enabled the Show to prosper to what it is today. Their volunteers work in all sections of the show from cake making to arts and craft.

The ring still remains a focus point as it did 33 years ago, with the number of horse and cattle events remaining strong. The show continues with its traditional theme and events with strong community support, school participation, and a growing attendance each year.

Whilst they appreciate their agricultural heritage, the committee recognises the need to continually ensure that the event is relevant for today’s show goers and has successfully made the transformation to a modern show full of agricultural, community and entertainment features.

The committee is excited to present this year’s 33rd Annual Show in April 2018. All your favourites will be back - stalls, kids entertainment, dog jumping and time trials.
Paradise Lagoons Campdraft

The annual Paradise Lagoons Campdraft conducted just outside of the Beef Capital of Australia - Rockhampton in Central Queensland is one of the nation's richest and largest campdrafts - one of only three home grown Australian sports.

The world class venue features three campdraft arenas and a cutting arena, supported by well designed infrastructure for competitors, sponsors and spectators, event and support staff, and cattle management. As well as dawn to dusk horse sports action, the four day program includes live entertainment, the Super Sires auction, an extensive trade fair where you can purchase everything from a new cowboy hat to a cowhide handbag.

A well stocked bar and canteen are supplemented by a host of food vans. On Saturday evening the crowds swell to capacity to enjoy the annual State of Origin Campdraft, first conducted in 2009, where the best riders from Queensland take on the might of New South Wales.

The Paradise Lagoons Campdraft offers you a truly iconic outback experience, and should be on your calendar of 'must do' events!
Fitzroy River Barra Bash 2019

The Fitzroy River Barra Bash is proudly brought to you by the Frenchville Sports Club and welcomes all participating members and guests to the 2019 annual competition. This is only the second year this event has been run and this year they will again highlight the spectacular Fitzroy River, Rockhampton the only location in Australia where you can fly, check in and boat out in an hour targeting trophy Barramundi and King Threadfin.

The Frenchville Sports Club Barra Bash invites fishermen and women from around the country to participate in the 2019 Competition from 23 to 26 May 2019. In 2019 the Competition with expand whilst including the traditional 2-Person Team catching for the Biggest Barramundi, Biggest Threadfin Salmon, Most Metres Barramundi and Most Metres Threadfin Salmon. With some of the richest prizes in any Fishing Competition!

In 2019 they plan to introduce the Fitzroy River Barra Bash Festival aimed at encouraging the whole family to get out and try the fishing on the Fitzroy River. With Live Music, Stalls and Entertainment on Ryan Park to finish up for the day!
Capella Show

The Capella Show is an annual event held at the Capella Showgrounds.

The show includes ring events, cattle judging, woodchop, entertainment, pavilion, animal nursery, exhibitions, competitions, grand parade, poetry recital, side show alley and fireworks.

There will be a bar on-site and food will be available.
Ag-Grow Emerald Field Days

Rockhampton River Festival 2019

Gemfest - Festival of Gems

What is Gemfest? A Festival of Gems!

There’s no better place to celebrate the origin, appeal and sheer beauty of precious and semi-precious stones at the home of the largest sapphire fields in the Southern Hemisphere. The annual Gemfest Festival of Gems is recognised as one of the most popular celebrations of sapphires and gems in Australia. Crowds of over 7,000 people converge on Central Queensland’s Sapphire Gemfields for the annual four-day festival, held every year in the second week of August.

Gemfest has been running since 1988 and this year promises to be bigger than ever with an amazing combination of traders and merchants, activities, exhibitions, entertainment, workshops, prizes, demonstrations and much, much more.

While local sapphires are undoubtedly the gem of choice at the Festival, diamonds, pearls, zircons, opals and other gemstones will also be amongst the sparkling array, along with gold, crystals, fossils and minerals.

CQUniversity Village Festival

The CQuniversity Village Festival is Central Queensland's premier arts, music and cultural festival.

Held on the stunning Keppel Bay foreshore in Yeppoon with events and activities throughout the Yeppoon Central Business District and in other locations and venues in Livingstone Shire, it offers a wide range of experiences from high-profile Australian acts to the best of local arts, crafts and food.



The Festival is at the heart of the Capricorn Coast tourist experience, linking with hero locations such as beautiful Great Keppel Island, great dining experiences at the marina and other venues and the laid-back tranquility of Emu Park.

The new lagoon precinct at the southern end of Yeppoon main beach is sure to be a future drawcard for Festival activities.

Activities on the Yeppoon foreshore are free, thus distinguishing this event from many others.

Capella Pioneer Village Heritage Day

Cheer on the kids pedaling their little tractors flat out to keep the sled they are pulling moving along as it gets heavier.
