Mountain Sounds Festival

The Mountain Sounds Festival is a boutique and sustainable event product of Australian music, art, and culture located on the Central Coast of New South Wales. Alongside the aim of creating a contemporary event, a significant emphasis will be on showcasing the Central Coast as a tourist destination by involving and promoting the local community and businesses.

The rare mix of coastal, country and urban environments within the region will contribute to the unique festival experience and will undoubtedly position the event in a different part of the market. The site also features the Mount Penang Gardens; eight hectares of modern landscapes and waterways that highlight Australian native flora and fauna which further emphasises the distinctive festival location.

Girrakool Blues Festival and Barbecue

    Girrakool Blues Festival and barbecue named after the nearby waterfalls, and quite befittingly is Aboriginal for “Place of still water” or Muddy Waters, will be held on the first weekend in March every year.

    In a New Orleans styled theme, the Festival will feature a wonderful weekend of quality, international, national and local blues and roots acts, within the beautiful surrounds of Mt Penang Garden Parklands, in a family friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

    Patrons can bring their rugs and chairs to enjoy the world-class music, and soul food from selectively picked stalls, including a unique American Southern style barbecue, and local artist stalls.

    The main “Girrakool Stage” will be nestled among the trees in front of the creek, easily seen by all patrons. While the “Wondabyne Stage” will be located amid the Wonderbyne Sculptures at the other end of the gardens.

    Apart from the music it will have a strong Aboriginal content, with indigenous bands, Welcome to Country Ceremony, Womens activities and with the potential of short tours to the Girrakool waterfalls and engravings.

    Promising professional surfers from all over the world can look forward to four new World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS) 1000 events, when the NSW Pro Surf Series kicks off on the NSW coastline.

    Thanks to a successful partnership between Surfing NSW, WSL, Destination NSW and NBN Television, four events (male and female) are slated to take place at Maroubra Beach, Cabarita Beach, Avoca Beach and Boomerang Beach over the next three years.

    The "Central Coast Pro" is the third stop of the NSW Pro Surf Series located at Avoca Beach Beach.

    The NSW Pro Surf Series has been developed for Australian and International surfers to gain ranking points and prize money on the WSL Qualifying Series. The Series also creates a NSW coastal road trip for all to explore the variety of waves, visit local communities and enjoy NSW surfing culture.
Opera in the Arboretum

Opera in the Arboretum is an open air festival of top Australian opera singers, held amongst the gum trees and kookaburras in the Pearl Beach Crommelin Native Arboretum.

In 2018, Opera in the Arboretum will be held (subject to confirmation) on Saturday, March 24.

Negotiations have commenced to contract the best available opera stars to entertain you. Details will be available later during 2017 and will be published here once confirmed.

The event is an initiative of the Rotary Club of Woy Woy, providing a cultural event on the Central Coast showcasing the talents of some of Australia's most respected opera performers. All proceeds go to support designated Rotary recipients and projects and to other needy charities.

Opera in the Arboretum is one of the Central Coast's premier cultural experiences attracting a huge number of patrons, with an intoxicating mix of opera and music.
