Originally a major 1850's alluvial goldfield, hundreds of European and Chinese miners once worked through this area. The later were the most prominent in Golden Gully, with circular tunnels burrowed in to the banks evidence of Chinese mining style. The Golden Gully Arch is a 3.5 kilometre drive from Hill End.
