This Boutique country Bed and Breakfast Lodge is set on two acres of cottage gardens in the wonderful Victorian country side. Dating back to the 1840`s, the building features early colonial architecture of the times. Just 20 mins from Melbourne International Airport and 40 mins from the city centre of Melbourne, it is ideally situated for that pause before your next adventure or for a getaway weekend.
'The Hunters Tryst' is fully licensed and features large open log fires in the bar and the restaurant. The Hunters Tryst was built during the 1840`s from hand cut basalt rock (bluestone) from local quarries. In those days its prime purpose was a resting place for travellers and locals. The beer was served straight from wooden barrels on the top of the bar. The Hunters Tryst has earned its place in history and was witness to the famous Ned Kelly who was born and lived close by. Many things have changed since.
The Hunters Tryst first opened its doors to the public in the 1840`s. Clientele of those days were passed by who travelled on horse and buggies on route north to the gold fields and inland Australia. Hitching rail and watering troughs were the order of the day and the native Gum Trees offered cooling shade for some who stopped for a midday siesta.
