Maffra Agricultural Show

The Maffra Show Committee strives to provide a true Agricultural Show, also providing entertainment for the whole family throughout the day.

Activities include chainsaw carving, steam engine display, animal nursery, pet parade, food and wine court, roving entertainment and then during the night carnival, woodchop competition, “The Maffra Mile”, shetland derby and culminating with a spectacular fireworks display.

There is a very extensive program for Equestrian competitors including a full two day program for showjumping held on a purpose built arena which is well watered and topped with sand annually.

Livestock entries are received each year for dairy cattle, beef cattle, dairy goats and poultry. Individual beef cattle breeds are also featured at times.

Entries in arts and crafts are displayed in two pavilions and include open classes, secondary and primary student classes, senior citizens work and Country Women's Association.

On display will be flowers, floral art, plants, fruit and vegetables, cookery (including Maffra’s Rainbow Cake With a Twist), jams, sauces and provisions, beading, handmade cards, painting drawing, graphic design, woodwork, knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking and photography.

The Sale Turf Club is a great place to enjoy a day of country racing providing a relaxed and stunning environment for a day out and being an easy two hours drive from Melbourne. Sale Turf Club also has a fantastic viewing area of the horses in the mounting yard making you feel part of the action.

Fashions on the Field is always a hot contest; should you wish to enter on the day, please do so at the Fashions enclosure, located on the east side of the Laurels function Centre. Live music is also offered as well as kids activities to keep the young ones entertained whilst at TAB and bookies will be available for those having a punt.

Armistice Living Tribute - Warragul

Armistice Living Tribute recognises the 100 year anniversary of the Armistice. The performance tells the story of the brave military musicians who, from 1914 to 1967, were also stretcher-bearers and medics.

The show pays tribute to and tells the little known story of the World War One musicians who also acted as stretcher bearers, an Australian Army tradition that started in the Boer War and continued through to the Vietnam War.

It highlights the significance of the Armistice and how the end of World War One was both a celebration and a time for reflection. It encourages Victorians to participate in commemorations and activities on Remembrance Day.

The free 20 minute street performance is a great opportunity for the whole community to come together and remember our proud wartime legacy. The acrobatic and musical performance is supported by the Victorian Government as the final event of the four year ANZAC Centenary campaign.

Sale Agricultural Show

Conducted in November annually and one of Victoria's oldest Agricultural Shows, the Sale Show (Gippsland Show -Sale) is a major event on the local calendar.

Featuring a major carnival on the Friday evening, culminating in a feature fireworks display and action packed arena entertainment, the Show is an annual favorite for families.

The Show features an extensive equestrian program together with all the usual agricultural show attractions including pavilions of grown, baked and decorated goods, sideshow rides and attractions, agricultural and leisure equipment and machinery over the two days of the Show carnival.

Rosehill Garden Concert

A truly spectacular and extensive private formal garden in the English style will be open on the weekend of 3 and 4 November 2018 from 10:00am until 4:00pm, the highlight being the two concerts on Sunday 4 November.

Enjoy a meander amongst aged oaks, roses old and new, lawns and hedges. Individual areas including kitchen and picking gardens, formal rose garden and borders. Watch the sheep in the arboretum which borders the garden proper, and look over the tree tops to the distant mountains beyond.

Whilst soaking up the spectacular surrounds, entertainment will be delivered through two Warragul Municipal Band performances. The learners/junior band are combining forces with our Senior band, performing at 11:30am and again at 1:00pm on Sunday 4 November. They have been told this will be the final time that this breathtaking private garden will open to the public.

With a sausage sizzle and tea and coffee available, this garden concert event is sure to satiate your senses and refresh your soul.

Australian Paper Tyers Art Festival and Tyers Food and Wine Festival

The Australian Paper Tyers Art Festival is held on the second weekend of November each year and this year will be on Friday 9, Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 November and will include the inaugural Tyers Food and Wine Festival on Sunday 11 November from 10:00am to 3:00pm.

The Tyers Art Festival includes an exhibition of over 500 artworks from across Gippsland and beyond across a range of mediums, including Oil, Acrylic, Watercolours, Mixed Media, Pastel, Drawing, Photography, Scratch Art, Designer Craft and the Young Artist Awards.

The Exhibition commences with the gala opening on the evening of Friday November 9 at 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm with live music, food and wine and announcement of awards.
The exhibition continues on Saturday November 10 from 10:00am to 4:00pm with the opportunity to partake of Devonshire teas and have time to view the exhibition in full.

On Sunday November 11 the exhibition is open from 10:00am to 3:00pm and will include the inaugural Tyers Food and Wine Festival with live music and fine food and wine and beer.

Summit Survivor

Summit Survivor is the most obstacle-dense mud-run course in Victoria. There are an epic 39 obstacles across five kilometres. This will be the most fun, challenging, crazy day of your life. Walk, run or sprint your way through this epic course. Take on the giant slide, tunnels, mud, nets, beams, walls, zaps and so much more.

Summit Survivor is for adventurous 12 to 60 year olds. 87 percent of participants said they found it the 'ideal difficulty'. Beginners through to hard-core racers will get an awesome buzz and be pushed by the physical and mental challenges.

There is the five kilometre adult course and kids course for four to twelve year olds, with 23 obstacles across 1.3 kilometres. This is like Tough Mudder, but more fun. Build your team, dress up and really have fun with it - there are prizes for the best dressed. Summit Survivor is located only 90 minutes from Melbourne in Trafalgar East. Gippsland Antiques and Collectables Fair

This weekend event is now in its 23rd year and has grown into a major event in Gippsland with a huge range of antiques and collectables on display and for sale.

There will be something for everyone including historical displays, collections to view and plenty of bargains to be purchased, with over 50 local and interstate dealers in attendance. Free antique appraisals will be available on both days, so if you have something old and interesting bring it a long for Ross Roycroft to appraise for you. This Fair is a great opportunity for collectors to get together and socialize over the whole weekend or just drop in for an hour or so to look at items of interest. Full catering will be available. The Fair is organised by the Gippsland Antique Bottles and Collectables Club Inc.

The 2018 Fair is open on Saturday 24 November from 9:30am until 5:00pm and Sunday 25 November 9:30am until 3:00pm at Kernot Hall, Princes Drive, Morwell.

Symphonic Adiemus in Warragul

The Latrobe West Gippsland Chorales and the Heidelberg Choral Society and Orchestra present Sir Karl Jenkins' Symphonic Adiemus and Giacomo Puccini's Messa di Gloria .

Sung in an entirely invented language, Jenkins’ major new work, Symphonic Adiemus features choir, orchestra and unusual percussions with influences from world music.

Puccini's Messa di Gloria sets the Latin Mass to some truly operatic melodies for choir, soloists and orchestra. The performance will conducted by Peter Bandy. Soloists for the Puccini will be Jeremy Kleeman (bass baritone) and Timothy Reynolds (tenor) .

This project is supported by the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria.

The event showcases the natural beauty, creative talents and unique character of the Bass Coast and broader Gippsland region. The festival has been thoughtfully curated by Events by Kate to attract families and to relish the cultural delights at Inverloch's doorstep.

This event brings local businesses together as well as involving local community groups and service clubs assisting in their fundraising efforts.

Mirboo North Italian Festa

The Mirboo North Italian Festa is a free family day celebrating all things Italian. Set in Baromi Park, the day will feature over 40 fabulous food stalls of Italian favourites with a full afternoon of on stage entertainment including music, singing, dancing, comedy, as well as spaghetti eating and grape stomping competitions.

The highlight will be performances by the Sbandietori di Faenza - 14 Flag throwers all the way from Italy who will perform the medieval art of tossing and catching flags, dressed in costumes accompanied by trumpets and drums. This first time in Victoria spectacular demonstration can only be seen in the towns of villages of Italy.

Food is the hero with cooking demonstrations by real Italian Nonnas and a guest chef with Nonna's Secret Recipe cookbook available for sale.

Add free kids activities, market stalls, and outdoor drinks areas selling Italian beers, wines and the ever popular Aperol Spritz.

For those interested the day starts at 10:00 with an outdoor Mass celebrating St. Paul - Patron Saint of the many Italians who migrated to Mirboo North in the 1950s, a tradition still alive in Italy and carried on in Australia today.

Opera by the Lakes

Gippsland Opera proudly present Opera by the Lakes at Nyerimilang Heritage Park. Nyerimilang is a beautiful National Park with stunning views over the Gippsland Lakes, set in a natural amphitheater.

Opera By The Lakes 2019 features international Bass opera singer Teddy Tahu Rhodes, multi Aria-winning group - The Idea of North, Coloratura Soprano - Georgia Wilkinson and Madeline Crombie.

East Gippsland Symphonia will play prior whilst you munch your lunch. Pre-order a delicious boxed picnic, with profit going to Bairnsdale Regional Health Services, or bring your own picnic, chairs provided. No BYO drinks. However wine can be purchased at the venue, plus tea, coffee, ice cream and cakes.

Farm World

Farm World, widely regarded as one of Victoria’s premier regional agricultural events, attracts more than 55,000 visitors and over 800 exhibitors over four days.

The event offers a strong focus on the latest in technology, equipment and information and provides an ideal opportunity to get up close and chat with the experts.

There is plenty at Farm World for both urban pioneers and lifestyle farmers interested in equipment, do it yourself passions, sustainable gardening and horticulture, drone innovation and masses of must-have tools.

Demonstrations and presentations are activated throughout the entire event including those attributed with the Food and Fibre Fiesta.

The Fiesta provides a festive ambience of exhibitor sales, demonstrations and workshops running free-of-charge throughout the weekend.

Grantville Pirate Festival

Enjoy a great day out at the award winning Maru Koala and Animal Park at the annual Grantville Pirate Festival.

Pirate games and roving entertainers, jumping castles, face painting, dress-up competitions, play mini-golf and enjoy the animal park all for the one low entry fee.

Meet Pirate Pete along with other roving pirate entertainers and get your face painted or take a ride on the giant slide. See the live stage show and join in the pirate games .

The kids will love the jumping castles and pirate show bags. Then meet, pat and hand feed the koalas, kangaroos and other animals in the animal park. Relax at 'Tortuga' and enjoy a bite to eat and drink in the Homestead Bistro. One low entry fee gives you access to all areas and activities on the day.
