Built in the Gold Rush, it was constructed in 1866 with a second storey added in 1895 to house the Postmaster. It was used as the St Arnaud Post and Telegraph Office until 1925. The style is Victorian Romanesque. It is listed by the National Trust as of local interest and is recognisable by its delightful arched windows and gabled slate roof. The Queen Mary Botanic Gardens and St Arnaud Lawn Bowls Club are opposite. Two stylish suites sleep up to five adults at first floor level. The generously proportioned Postmaster's Suite with queen bed, decorated in soft colours of cream, green and floral sleeps two. The cosy Telegrapher's Suite with queen and single beds in two rooms has black, white and gold tones and sleeps three. Both have ensuite bathrooms, bathrobes, electric blankets, heating, air conditioning, tea and coffee making and delightful views. The Postmaster's Suite has LED TV and a refrigerator. The light, airy, spacious, first floor open plan lounge, dining and kitchen are for everyone to use. There is an open fire, reverse cycle air conditioner, large flat screen TV, DVD, CD, tea and coffee making, dining for six, optional continental or full breakfast ingredients, emergency dinner kit for late arrivals, complimentary wine and chocolates, sunny roof garden with BBQ. The library is cosy and stocked with books, games and jigsaw puzzles. There is gas heating for chilly winter days. Undercover, lockable parking is available.
