Find Fairies in the Forest at Otway Fly

Otway Fly Treetop Adventures is home to ten enchanting fairy houses for visitors to discover as they wander through the magical rainforest during the April school holidays.

Handcrafted by volunteers from Men’s Shed Colac, the charming fairy houses create a spellbinding trail through the rainforest floor.

Children receive a special activity card for their journey to help them find the letters on each of the dainty houses to spell out the magic word to collect a reward.

Nathan Bridgeman, Attraction Manager at Otway Fly, says the fairy houses have been immensely popular since they arrived in late December, which prompted the team to extend their residency into the April school holidays.
Hooked On Tuna Fishing Competition

Grab your rod, the 2019 Hooked on Tuna Fishing Competition is back.

The competition will be held over four weekends in April from the Portland Yacht Club.

Hosted by Glenelg Shire Council in partnership with the Portland Sports Game Fishing Club and Portland Lions Club, there is $12,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs for keen anglers.

Registration is $20 per person per weekend, or a one-off fee of $40 which covers four weekends of fishing.

Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach

The Rip Curl Pro is celebrating 57 years and the world's best male and female surfers are in town to compete for professional surfing's most treasured trophy - the Rip Curl Pro Bell.

The Rip Curl Pro is the second event on the 2019 World Surf League (WSL) World Tour. The event holds a very special place in surfing folklore, as the longest running world championship level contest on the World Tour.

It is tradition that the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach waiting period includes the Easter long weekend.

The event only runs in the best possible surf conditions, to avoid disappointment check World Surf League website each morning to check if the event is on.

Easter Sunday, 9:00am, celebrate Jesus' resurrection with the lighting of the new fire and the Easter candle, a children's 'upfront' of Mary at the empty tomb, the renewal of the baptism and the lighting of candles, great singing using both historic organs, plus two songs with keys and sax.

There will also be achildren's Easter activity during the homily - they get to take their Easter Box home. Everyone welcome.

The Drop Festival - Torquay

Fishing Clinic

Cobden Miniature Railway and Mini Golf Park

The Park is open to the general public on the third Sunday of every month, as well as all Sundays during school holidays.

The park is adjacent to and opens at the same time as the Cobden Pioneer Park.

Koroit Irish Festival

The Koroit Irish Festival celebrates the region’s rich Irish heritage.

The event is held annually in April in the historic village of Koroit - a 10 minute drive from Port Fairy. Highlights include the Gaelic games carnival - including a full-scale Gaelic football match, the Australian Danny Boy Championships, market stalls and food vendors.

Plus there are more musicians than you can shake a sheleighly at, with ditties ranging from traditional Irish folk right through to shamrock ‘n’ roll.

Great Ocean Road Running Festival

The Great Ocean Road Running Festival returns on 19 and 20 May with the event offering one of the most spectacular marathons in the world.

The course stretches along the coastal towns from Lorne to Apollo Bay and runners of all distances can soak up some of Australia’s most scenic beaches and breathtaking views during the annual two-day running festival.

Over 7,500 participants of all ages and abilities are expected to choose to run or walk one of seven event distances ranging from the 1.5 kilometres Kids’ Gallop to the 60 kilometres Ultra Marathon.

Registration also gives participants free access to a range of activities across the weekend such as a kite festival, live music and yoga sessions so everyone can enjoy the festivities.

The Clark Rubber Australian Kelpie Muster celebrates Casterton’s claim as the birthplace of the Australian Working Kelpie dog breed. The original 'Kelpie' was born at Warrock Station, north of Casterton, in the 1870’s.

The festival is filled with fun activities, celebrating and demonstrating the Kelpies’ amazing skills. Past years included attractions such as the Poets Breakfast, Kelpie Country Street Parade, RMA Working Dog Futurity, Kelpie Dash, Kelpie High Jump, Kelpie Hill climb, Kelpie Pinball and Stockman's Challenge.

The working dog auction attracts national interest and provides a unique chance to observe superior working dogs demonstrate their skills before sale. The auction is firmly placed on the calendar of working dog breeders and buyers, with breeders from all over Australia showcasing their bloodlines. Amazingly high prices are fetched for Kelpies at the auction, with figures in the thousands for a single dog.

The Working Dog school is conducted by a renowned trainer and bookings prior to the event are essential.

Three day Photography Tour: Otway Ranges

Capture beautiful beaches on a three-day photography tour with professional photographer Alfonso Calero this winter.

The photography tour will take place on the Fleurieu Peninsula, a stretch of coastline which is home to some of Adelaide's best beaches. From Friday night to Sunday morning, under Alfonso's guidance, you will shoot astrophotography and seascapes. During the tour you will spend a few hours per day walking on uneven surfaces so a normal level of fitness is recommended.

The workshop includes a total of 15 hours of photography direction.

With members of the Portland Citizens Brass Band also performing across both shows, 'Stardust' and 'The Mission' will reveal the extraordinary stories of two ordinary Australians whose legacies still reverberate today - in a double bill that brings to life both lingering memories and lessons from the past.

Port Fairy Annual Show

The Port Fairy Agricultural, Pastoral, and Horticultural Society Annual Show is a traditional country show with all the events and displays that you love.

If you enjoy the Port Fairy show, stay around, as the Koroit Show is always on the following Saturday, so twice the fun.

St James Annual Rose Show

Held this year at the Soldiers Memorial Hall Mortlake, the St James Annual Rose Show is this year celebrating its 122nd Anniversary.

The competition is open to a wide variety of roses, which means that if it is a rose then there is a category for it. The Rose Show is also features other categories for other garden flowers.

The weekend also includes plant and cake stalls, lunch is available on the Saturday and there will be a flower arranging workshop at 1:00pm on Sunday - bring your own flowers and vases.

All proceeds for the day go to a worthy cause.
Great Vic Bike Ride

With 10 days and more than 600 kilometres of riding, 2019 is shaping up to be the greatest Great Vic ever. You will pedal through the beautiful coastal and forest landscapes of South Australia all the way to the world famous Great Ocean Road.

You can choose from five day and 10 day ride options as you pedal from Robe to Torquay, stopping at eight classic coastal towns along the way. Join the ride from Friday 22 November to Sunday 1 December 2019.
Moyneyana Festival

The festival was first held in 1947 and has developed into a huge range of activities to entertain the many holiday makers who flock to Port Fairy for their traditional summer holiday break.

The highlight of the year is undoubtedly the New Year's Eve Procession where many residents and local organizations put together a float, often with a humorous theme and hope to win the Champion Float prize.

Music is also a feature of New Year's Eve and live bands both before and after the procession keep the crowds entertained until midnight when a dazzling fireworks display lights up the night sky.

Other features of the festival include, Saturday markets, The Lions Club Art Show, surf lessons, outdoor movies, guided walks of the town and cemetery as well as golf competitions, cricket matches, and fun days in the Port Fairy pool.



A program of events is available from mid December.

Orford Vintage Rally

The Orford Vintage Rally is to be held on the 18 and 19 of January 2020.

This year will feature a ute muster, tractor pull, vintage cars, trucks and motorbikes display, shearing competition, blade shearing display, light display on Saturday night and live band.

Stallholders and campers are welcome. Fully catered.

Gates open 9:00am until late Saturday and 9:00am until 6:00pm Sunday.
Port Fairy Working Sheepdog Trials

The Port Fairy Working Sheepdog Trials will be held from 7:00am each day.

The Commonwealth Championship Sheepdog Trials run for a week with triallers travelling from most states of Australia to compete in one of the biggest trials held in Australia.

Novice, open and improver heats are held throughout the week with finals on the weekend. A Trans Tasman trial is held under lights for three nights of the trial. Included in the trial is the coveted Australian Dog of the Year title with the best dog in each state attending by invitation to compete.

Held in the historic Port Fairy tourist town on the Shipwreck Coast of Victoria. Morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea available at a very reasonable cost.
Port Fairy Jazz Festival
