Casterton Show - 150 Years Exhibition

Terang Races

Enjoy all that country racing has to offer at one of Victoria's premier race tracks, the Terang Racing Club, located in the heartland of Victoria's thoroughbred country in an intimate setting, with sweeping views of the course.

Get up close and personal with jockeys and trainers from all over the state, whilst enjoying all of the racing action right from the mounting yard to the winning post at your leisure.

Racegoers are encouraged to embrace country casual; where you can enjoy backing a winner from the bars and bookmakers on course. There is plenty of outside grandstand seating for those looking to watch the races from a great undercover spot. Parking is free.

Kite-Surfing World Championships

The final event of the 2018 professional Global Kitesports Association (GKA) Kite-Surf World Tour will be held at Point Danger in Torquay, Victoria from 12 to 16 December.

The Australian Kite-Surf World Cup event follows a series of competitions held around the world in places such as Cape Verde, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Mauritius and Brazil.

Fifty of the world’s best kite-surfers, including two Australians, will compete for five days in the first international kitesurfing competition to be held in Australia. The 2018 Men’s and Women’s World Champions will be determined in the events at Torquay.

Local kite-surfers will also have an opportunity to compete. There are more than 20,000 active kite-surfers in Australia. In the lead-up to the GKA event, Kiteboarding Australia will hold a national qualifying event from the 7 to 10 December to select the four best female and male riders. They will receive a wild-card entry into the professional event.

The GKA Kite-Surf World Tour is the peak professional international series for wave and strapless freestyle kite-surfing.

The Australian GKA Kite-Surf World Cup event is supported by the Victorian Government, and the Surf Coast Shire along with Kiteboarding Australia and Kiteboarding Victoria.

Cobden Miniature Railway and Mini Golf Park

Cobden Miniature Railway Park offers miniature train rides, 18 hole mini golf, canteen, children's playground and barbecue facilities.

The Park is open to the general public on the third Sunday of every month, as well as all Sundays during school holidays.

Please note that the Park is not open on Sundays of long weekends unless these fall in school holidays.

The park is adjacent to and opens at the same time as the Cobden Pioneer Park.

Magic at Otway Fly

This summer, Otway Fly Treetop Adventures will be transformed into a magical fairy wonderland and children from all across the land will be able to help the little fairy and elf friends find their treetop homes.

The Men’s Shed Colac has been working hard to create little magical houses which will be scattered throughout the rainforest floor. Some with verandas, some up to 80 centimetres tall, and all made from recycled materials and fallen branches from the Otway Ranges.

Upon entry all children will receive a magical fairy card to help them to discover all ten fairy and elf homes and unjumble the magic word.

Feel the sprinklings of magical fairy dust along the trail, where you will find a colouring station and the exquisite homes before receiving your reward – an enchanted sticker – at the end of your journey.

So fly in and feel the fairy magic at Otway Fly this summer, if you’re lucky, you may even spot a fairy zipping through the treetops on the attraction’s high-flying Zipline Tour.

Moyneyana Festival

The festival was first held in 1947 and has developed into a huge range of activities to entertain the many holiday makers who flock to Port Fairy for their traditional summer holiday break.

The highlight of the year is undoubtedly the New Year's Eve Procession where many residents and local organizations put together a float, often with a humorous theme and hope to win the Champion Float prize.

Music is also a feature of New Year's Eve and live bands both before and after the procession keep the crowds entertained until midnight when a dazzling fireworks display lights up the night sky.

Other features of the festival include, Saturday markets, The Lions Club Art Show, surf lessons, outdoor movies, guided walks of the town and cemetery as well as golf competitions, cricket matches, and fun days in the Port Fairy pool.



A program of events is available from mid December.

Marvel at the story of their 165 million year domination of life on earth. Watch them move and hear them roar. Get up close with the most infamous prehistoric animals including everyone’s favourite, the Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Become a Palaeontologist for the day. Children will be provided with an expert digger outfit before chipping away to unearth their very own fossil in the digging area (children are provided with a hard plaster egg to dig away at).

Plus there will be many more activities to take part in, including dinosaur jig-saw puzzle fossil displays, learn to draw dinosaurs, walking live dinosaur, dinosaur movies playing, free rides and jumping castles.

Jurassic Creatures will run at Warrnambool, Lake Pertobe, Pertobe Road (adjacent to the Mini Golf) from 26 December 2018 to 27 January 2019.

Warrnambool Greyhounds Seaside Festival

Head on down to the Warrnambool Greyhounds Seaside Festival in December and January.

The Seaside Festival is a family event that offers a great night of entertainment.



From the 27 December to the 12 January there will be eight days of racing and entertainment with something for the whole family, with be racing on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.



Kids will be entertained with the Greyhound Games, jumping castles and arts and crafts. For the big kids, there will be a great night of greyhound racing.

Kids eat free when an adult meal is purchased - so it really is the perfect event for the whole family.

Bookings for dinner can be made and if you book for eight adults for dinner we will make it free at the gate.



Gates open from 5.30pm and racing from 6.00pm.

The Anglesea Roo Run falls the night before the ASLSC Rock 2 Ramp ocean swim each year and offers elite and serious runners, recreational runners and teams, kids under 12 and physically challenged kids and young adults the fun and incentive of family friendly competition.



Offering visitors and locals a family-based summer fun run, the breathtaking location utilises our beautiful back beach, coastal walk tracks and the Anglesea river walk, attracting runners far and wide.

The Roo Run and Grommet Gallop will take place on Thursday 27 December. Starting times for each event are as follows:

Growing up as a child while listening to his father singing and to his full-blooded Native American grandfather-playing guitar, it is no wonder that the blues and country soul was fused into his being. He is left handed but he simply turned the right handed guitar upside down and taught himself how to play. Which is an amazing feat in itself. Bo Jenkins is the real deal.

If you were a fan of rock n roll champs The Vasco Era, you must love Localles. A Melbourne five-piece, with Ted O'Neil and Michael Fitzgerald linking up with John Waller (Rat and Co), Paul Doery (The Exploders) and Jackson Gray (I Know The Chief) to form a talented supergroup.

And this supergroup is performing at the Great Ocean Road Brewhouse on January 5 for one of the biggest Summer music gigs Apollo Bay has seen so far.

Localles is not your everyday band. There is something more behind their feel-good rock ‘n’ roll. All five of them have different musical backgrounds and they know how to use this in their advantage. They all bring ideas to a new song, and together they transform the song into something unique with various genres.

Port Fairy Working Sheepdog Trials

The Port Fairy Working Sheepdog Trials will be held on the third Sunday in January from 7:00am.

The Commonwealth Championship Sheepdog Trials run for a week with triallers travelling from most states of Australia to compete in one of the biggest trials held in Australia.

Novice, open and improver heats are held throughout the week with finals on the weekend. A Trans Tasman trial is held under lights for three nights of the trial. Included in the trial is the coveted Australian Dog of the Year title with the best dog in each state attending by invitation to compete.

Held in the historic Port Fairy tourist town on the Shipwreck Coast of Victoria. Morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea available at a very reasonable cost.

Ocean Film Festival World Tour

With a vision to mesmerise and captivate, the Ocean Film Festival World Tour showcases more than two hours of sublime footage taken above and below the water’s surface. 

Featuring all new films this carefully curated selection of short films document the beauty and power of the ocean, and celebrate the divers, surfers, swimmers and oceanographers who live for the sea’s salt spray; who chase the crests of waves; and who marvel at the mysteries of the big blue. 

The films feature captivating cinematography, complete with awe-inspiring underwater scenes and fast-paced wave sequences that have been captured from unbelievable vantage points.

Inspiring and thought-provoking, the Ocean Film Festival World Tour is filled with moving footage, touching interviews and insightful narrations. Each of the festival’s films conveys a deep respect and appreciation for the world’s oceans and the creatures that call them home.

The Surf Coast Trek is a 40km fundraising walk for the Give Where You Live Foundation and Kids Plus Foundation along the Surf Coast Walk from Aireys Inlet to Torquay.

Surf Coast Trek provides individuals or teams the opportunity to trek 40km through iconic tourist destinations along the beautiful Surf Coast Walk, from Aireys Inlet to Torquay.

The track will take you through Ironbark forests, across stunning exposed cliff tops, among exquisite wild flowers and across long sandy beaches all with sweeping ocean views.

The community event combines fun, friends and fitness, while also raising valuable funds for Give Where You Live Foundation and the Kids Plus Foundation.

Thanks to Avalon Airport and Helloworld Travel Geelong West, all Trekkers who register before 12 noon Friday, 14 December 2018 will be entered into the draw to win one of two holiday packages for two people to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Rip Curl Pro is celebrating 57 years and the world's best male and female surfers are in town to compete for professional surfing's most treasured trophy - the Rip Curl Pro Bell.

The Rip Curl Pro is the second event on the 2019 World Surf League (WSL) World Tour. The event holds a very special place in surfing folklore, as the longest running world championship level contest on the World Tour.

It is tradition that the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach waiting period includes the Easter long weekend.

The event only runs in the best possible surf conditions, to avoid disappointment check World Surf League website each morning to check if the event is on.
Australian Kelpie Muster

The Clark Rubber Australian Kelpie Muster celebrates Casterton’s claim as the birthplace of the Australian Working Kelpie dog breed. The original 'Kelpie' was born at Warrock Station, north of Casterton, in the 1870’s.

The festival is filled with fun activities, celebrating and demonstrating the Kelpies’ amazing skills. Past years included attractions such as the Poets Breakfast, Kelpie Country Street Parade, RMA Working Dog Futurity, Kelpie Dash, Kelpie High Jump, Kelpie Hill climb, Kelpie Pinball and Stockman's Challenge.

The working dog auction attracts national interest and provides a unique chance to observe superior working dogs demonstrate their skills before sale. The auction is firmly placed on the calendar of working dog breeders and buyers, with breeders from all over Australia showcasing their bloodlines. Amazingly high prices are fetched for Kelpies at the auction, with figures in the thousands for a single dog.

The Working Dog school is conducted by a renowned trainer and bookings prior to the event are essential.

Geelong Cross Country Anglesea Eight Kilometre Footrace

On Sunday, 8 September 2019 the Geelong Cross Country Club will conduct a handicap race for runners 16 years and older starting near the Anglesea Surf Club.

The race begins at 9:00am and takes in a variety of terrain.

Numerous spot prizes and age category award are presented at the conclusion of the race.
