Chill out at the Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery as they celebrate the end of summer with their annual Ice Cream Festival from 13 to 24 Ferbruary 2019. Entry is free.

Ice cream lovers will be able to indulge in a suite of 144 different artisan flavours crafted by the team of talented Chocolatiers. Twelve new flavours will be introduced each day the Festival for you to try – think old time favourites, classic combinations as well as exotic creations all made fresh using only the finest ingredients.

The team are busy finalising flavours and sugar, gluten and diary free options will be on the menu too so no-one misses out on the fun. You can also try your ice cream on a pizza, a hot chocolate ice cream float and a host of other decadent desserts inspired by our love for ice cream.

Ice cream aficionados will love the dedicated tasting sessions being held during the Festival. For just $20 per person you can enjoy a 40 minute hosted tasting of 12 different ice cream flavours in the private tasting room – pre booking is essential. Mike Elrington is a gifted singer-songwriter with incredible guitar skills. Standing at almost two metres tall, delivering his signature, gut-wrenching vocals like an instrument all on its own, very few people forget a performance from this man. The commitment to his live shows and the well-earned reputation for leaving nothing behind but sweat has seen him invited to perform at some of Australia’s finest festivals, including the iconic Byron Bay BluesFest, Bendigo, Sydney Blues and Roots Festivals and Blues on Broadbeach to name but a few.

Elrington has proven himself as one the hardest-working artists currently on the Australian scene, and over the last 17 years since the inception of his career as an 18-year old in Adelaide, has released nine albums and toured excessively throughout Australia, the United Kingdom and New Zealand.

Maryrose Cuskelly is a freelance writer and editor. She is the author of Original Skin: An exploration of the remarkable human hide (2010) and The End of Charity: Time for Social Enterprise (2008), which she wrote with Nic Frances, and was the winner of the Iremonger Award. Her essays and articles have been published in The Age, The Australian and The Big Issue. In 2016, Maryrose won the Thunderbolt Prize for Crime Writing (Non-fiction) for her essay Well Before Dark. She lives in Melbourne.

Free Outdoor Movie Night - Portland

The Rotary Club of Portland Bay in Conjunction the Glenelg Council is pleased to announce that on 22 February they will be running a free movie event in the Portland Botanical Gardens.

Fun starts at 6:30pm with a Battle of the Bands and then learn how to glide across the dance floor before sitting down to Dirty Dancing the original movie.

Dirty Dancing is a classic movie released 31 years ago that will have you laughing and falling in love with the main characters again.

There will be lots of fun and what a great way to catch up with the gang and enjoy the access to the Rotary Pop up Bar and food vans. Although this is a free event Rotary will be raising funds to support Youth programs that support local youth. So while you are down on the night make sure you have a great time and support the great local youth programs.
Gellibrand River Blues and Blueberry Festival

The Gellibrand River Blues and Blueberry Festival is a unique annual event held during the last weekend of February to celebrate Blues Music, local blueberries and other produce and artistic talents.

Take a drive down to Gellibrand on the weekend of the 22 to 24 February 2019, where you can relax and listen to some of the best Australian Blues Bands and enjoy local beer and wines and great country hospitality at Otways Tourist Park on the Saturday from 12:00pm to 8:00pm.

This eighth, festival will host Dan Dinnen & Shorty, Hatsapella & Co, Sammy Owen Blues Band and the Wayne Jury Band. Music, meals and drinks continue on into the evening at the Otway Districts Football Netball Club and the weekend finale is at Otway Estate on Sunday 24 February from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.

Sunday morning will continue the frivolities with music, quality stalls and great family activities at the Rex Norman Park. At current Jason has an extended passion writing/producing and releasing music on iTunes, Spotify, Deezer, Amazon and Youtube from his JHRecords studio. His debut independent album ‘Chasing Love’ recorded in Melbourne (AUS) was released in 2016 with the official clip by Island Music Label on YouTube, which captures the story of the Mauritian Kreol History. This received rave media attention for Jason’s music and connection with Mauritius.

Arriving in Japan in the 1970s was an eye opener for the young Urquhart family. They soon came to appreciate that beneath the western façade, Japan is still very much a country of ongoing traditions, culture, business forms and cuisine.

Based on forty-six letters selected from a collection of nine hundred written home over eight years, Meet Japan is a journey of enlightenment.

Born in Portland, John’s assignment in Japan was to market the range of Borthwicks Australia and New Zealand products and as the daughter of a commercial flower grower, his wife Lois became engrossed in the colourful seasonal nature of the countryside, the spiritual core of Japanese garden design, traditional art media and pottery.

The Rip Curl Pro is the second event on the 2019 World Surf League (WSL) World Tour. The event holds a very special place in surfing folklore, as the longest running world championship level contest on the World Tour.

It is tradition that the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach waiting period includes the Easter long weekend.

The event only runs in the best possible surf conditions, to avoid disappointment check World Surf League website each morning to check if the event is on.

Back for its second year running, bigger and better than before and this time The Drop Festival is dropping back in on the Rip Curl Pro Saturday 20 April.

The Drop takes place alongside the three Australian World Surf League Championship Tour events at Snapper Rocks on the Gold Coast, Bells Beach in Torquay and Margaret River in Western Australia - with two exciting additional stops World Surf League Qualifying Series events at Surfest Newcastle and the Vissla Sydney Surf Pro in Manly.

The Drop Festival is a proudly local, environmentally sustainable event. Encouraging a lifestyle of good food, art, family fun and community culture to be enjoyed with your favourite people.

The Drop Festival 2019 in Torquay will be an all ages event. All attendees under 12 must be accompanied by a legal guardian over 18 years of age.

Warrnambool Greyhound Cup

The Warrnambool Greyhound Cup is Warrnambool Greyhounds premier night of Group Racing - with all the action on and off the track.



Come and be part of what is a great nights racing and entertainment for everyone - you will be rubbing shoulders with the who's who of the racing industry.

Dining packages are available and the bistro will be open and full bar and TAB facilities will be available.



For those attending the Gallops during the day, there will be a free bus transfer from the Warrnambool Gallops to the Warrnambool Greyhounds. The club will also be doing free bus pickups through Warrnambool town centre on the night and returns to town following the meeting.



Racing starts just after 6:00pm and the gates are open from 5:00pm.

Great Ocean Road Running Festival

The Great Ocean Road Running Festival returns on 19 and 20 May with the event offering one of the most spectacular marathons in the world.

The course stretches along the coastal towns from Lorne to Apollo Bay and runners of all distances can soak up some of Australia’s most scenic beaches and breathtaking views during the annual two-day running festival.

Over 7,500 participants of all ages and abilities are expected to choose to run or walk one of seven event distances ranging from the 1.5 kilometres Kids’ Gallop to the 60 kilometres Ultra Marathon.

Registration also gives participants free access to a range of activities across the weekend such as a kite festival, live music and yoga sessions so everyone can enjoy the festivities.
Australian Kelpie Muster

The Clark Rubber Australian Kelpie Muster celebrates Casterton’s claim as the birthplace of the Australian Working Kelpie dog breed. The original 'Kelpie' was born at Warrock Station, north of Casterton, in the 1870’s.

The festival is filled with fun activities, celebrating and demonstrating the Kelpies’ amazing skills. Past years included attractions such as the Poets Breakfast, Kelpie Country Street Parade, RMA Working Dog Futurity, Kelpie Dash, Kelpie High Jump, Kelpie Hill climb, Kelpie Pinball and Stockman's Challenge.

The working dog auction attracts national interest and provides a unique chance to observe superior working dogs demonstrate their skills before sale. The auction is firmly placed on the calendar of working dog breeders and buyers, with breeders from all over Australia showcasing their bloodlines. Amazingly high prices are fetched for Kelpies at the auction, with figures in the thousands for a single dog.

The Working Dog school is conducted by a renowned trainer and bookings prior to the event are essential.
Annual Dachshund Dash - Port Fairy Winter Weekends

Geelong Cross Country Anglesea Eight Kilometre Footrace

On Sunday, 8 September 2019 the Geelong Cross Country Club will conduct a handicap race for runners 16 years and older starting near the Anglesea Surf Club.

The race begins at 9:00am and takes in a variety of terrain.
