Australia s largest multisport festival is coming to Geelong in 2009 from 20 February to 1 March. This will be the first time the event has been held in Geelong and with an estimated 10,000 participants, it will be the biggest participant sporting event ever held in regional Victoria. The Confederation of Australian Sport runs and manages the event, which is held biennially in different states around Australia. The Australian Masters Games provides the opportunity for participation for people over the age of 30, regardless of their background or ability to participate in over 60 sports. While the competition is important, one of the key attractions is the social interaction and spirit of camaraderie experienced by the participants. Geelong has first class sporting facilities, accommodation and its close proximity to the surf coast of the Great Ocean Road and wineries of the Bellarine will ensure your holiday is the best ever. The Games will offer an unforgettable experience. Play hard by day and night, relax at Geelong s vibrant cafes and bars, or walk along the scenic bayside promenade. The Games are renowned for their festive social calendar including an Opening Ceremony, mid week party and Closing Ceremony, not to mention nightly entertainment at the Games Centre.
