Scene Changes - A Comic Farce On Stage, and Off
Date Fri 9th Nov 2018 to Sat 17th Nov 2018
Missed cues, dodgy sets, absent sound effects and misplaced props are ordinarily a Director's nightmare, and in this original play, there is no shortage of mishaps.

Scene Changes is set on the opening night performance of, “The Curse of the Ming Vase,” a period murder mystery performed by the fictional Crampston Regional Amateur Performers.

The audience is first treated to a backstage view of the cast and crew as they prepare to wow the audience. Of course, with such an eccentric cast of characters both on the stage and off, everything has to (and will) go wrong.

After intermission, the tables are turned, literally, and the audience will get to see the consequences on stage of all the mistakes that have been made.

Written and produced locally, it is great family entertainment.

A blistering new version of George Orwell’s political classic. All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.

Revolution is coming to Manor Farm. Under the guidance of some rebellious pigs, a group of farm animals unite to drive out their cruel human oppressors and build utopia. But the swine are not as united as they appear, and their division gives rise to a terrifying new system of power and repression.

Written in the 1940s as a response to the rise of authoritarian governments around the world, Animal Farm is a searing examination of extremist rule. It is a cautionary tale as relevant and terrifying in 2019, as it was then.

In his final production for STCSA as Artistic Director, Geordie Brookman and the exceptional Dale March join forces to create a scintillating take on one of the greatest stories of English literature. A sublime and unadorned piece of theatrical storytelling, Animal Farm will see March inhabit upwards of 20 characters, from the revolutionary pigs to the stoic draft horse and the tyrannical Mr Jones.

Splinter
Date Tue 15th Oct 2019 to Sat 19th Oct 2019
Tales of missing children have always held a terrible fascination. In Celtic folklore, babies were stolen from their beds by envious fairies, and changelings left in their place. These days, when a child disappears the media grabs us by the throat and will not let us go. The names of these vanished children haunt the headlines for days, weeks, years.

Hilary Bell’s disquieting and downright chilling thriller Splinter channels tabloid news and primal fears alike. A couple are reunited with their missing daughter. Fierce love has sustained them through her unbearable absence. But now she is home. Something just is not right. How do they stop their imaginations running wild? Maybe if they return to the beach house where they spent their happiest summers, they will return to their old selves.

Revisiting the sinister territories of Wolf Lullaby, Splinter reunites Bell’s supreme atmospherics with another powerhouse performance from sister Lucy as a mother forced to confront the unthinkable. Directed by Lee Lewis (Rice) and starring Lucy Bell (Speaking in Tongues, All Saints) and Simon Gleeson (Les Miserables, EastEnders), this claustrophobic chamber piece questions how well you all know your families.
