The Coffs Harbour Butterfly House, Maze and Tearooms consist of a fully enclosed glasshouse featuring an indoor rainforest as the home of 350 to 400 live Australian butterflies. It is the only public display of live butterflies of its kind in New South Wales. Visitors are able walk amongst the butterflies, experience the life-cycle of the butterfly, spend time with one of the informative guides and often have butterflies land on them. The maze, consisting of a hunt for butterfly information and a patterned coloured maze with varying degrees of difficulty, is an added part of the attraction. Visitors can also enjoy many homemade delights from the tearooms or purchase a memento of the visit in the souvenir shop. The woodturning gallery, featuring work from the resident wood turner and other local artists, is a must see for all who want to purchase a piece of nature to take home with them. At the Butterfly House - experience the butterfly and be educated. The Butterfly House is located nine kilometres south of Coffs Harbour, taking the Lyons Road exit. |
