Opal Expo held annually in Winton is great fun for everyone! Come, experience, see and even purchase an opal or two. Australia’s national gemstone, Opal, in the rough or as cut and polished stone. Here in Winton they have boulder Opal, which is unique to Queensland. Enjoy the tailgating, where the opal miners sell their opal virtually from the back of the vehicle, to the booths and stalls displaying opal in all its form. Join in the entertainment as well as the street market. A grand dinner is held with a jewellery and fashion parade. Jewellery and dress design competitions are held and the winners are announced at the dinner. This year the National Opal Symposium is being held in Winton, in conjunction with the Opal Expo, whish will bring opal miners from all over Australia selling their stones. Any keen jeweller or jewellery wholesaler is welcomed to attend. |
