Carosa Vineyard is owned and operated by Carole and Jim Elson. Jim has been in the winemaking industry since 1970 having been a winemaker for Seppelts wines in the Barossa Valley in South Australia and Great Western in Victoria. The name Carosa was derived from the names of their three daughters Catherine, Rosemarie and Sarah. The property in Mount Helena, in the Shire of Mundaring, was purchased in 1984 when the first Chardonnay vines were planted. We opened for cellar door sales in 1989. In 1994 we started light lunches and eventually in 2000 we opened our new café area overlooking the vineyard serving a variety of lunches (for example beef cabernet pie, classic chicken and leek pie and toasted turkish breads) and catering for day and evening functions with meals made fresh in our new kitchen. The cafe area is air conditioned for your comfort. In 2003, after being presented with four grandchildren in two years we started a new range of wines named after each grandchild with a new label design. In 2004 two more names will be added to the list of wines (six grandchildren!). Our wines range from two dry whites, a slightly sweet ‘Summer White’ and five dry reds plus two sparkling ‘Methode Champenoise’ wines. The wines include the Family Range - Hannah Shiraz, Isabella Pinot Noir, Lucian Merlot, Jessica Semillon, Alexia Rose Sparkling Pinot Noir, Suki Cabernet Merlot and Janne Louise Methode Champenoise.

We also offer Chardonnay, Summer White and Cabernet Savignon. All wines are made and bottled on the property and contract winemaking is done for local vineyards in the Perth hills wine region. Stay for a while in the hills as there are many bed and breakfast facilities in the area.
