Tarantino themed West Coast IPA Relaunch Party at TRBC

Tumut Boxing Day Races

Tumut Turf Club shows its colours at the annual Boxing Day Races, the biggest race meet for the year.

Come down and discover the picturesque Tumut Turf Club. Tumut Turf Club is one of the oldest Race Clubs in NSW having commenced racing in the 1850′s.

Along with the races come, enjoy live entertainment.

Food is available through the kiosk and barbecue and bar facilities are available on course. Marquee packages available.

Country and metropolitan bookmakers will operate on the day with full TAB facilities.

Jindabyne's Man From Snowy River Rodeo

The annual Man From Snowy River Rodeo event has been running since 1943, originally in Old Jindabyne and now at John Connors Oval, Park Road, Jindabyne Sports Ground.

The 2018 Rodeo will be bigger and better than ever with it being the 75th Anniversary of this great local event.

Action includes Open and Novice Bulls, Saddle Bronc, Bareback Horses, Poley Buck Jump, Ladies Barrel Race, Junior Steer ride and Junior Barrel Races. There is also a Ladies Steer Ride for 18 years and over competitors - helmets and vests are required.

Gates open from 10:30am with the action to commence at 11am.

It's always a great day out for the family with side shows, food stalls, barbecue and bar facilities available.

To all those who attended the 2017 event a very big Thank You from the Committee for making the day a wonderful success. They invite you to attend again in 2018, bring your friends and make it another fantastic day and ensure the continuation of this long running Snowy Mountains event.

New Year's Eve: Thredbo

This is a full APRA Championship Rodeo with a host of fun-filled events including local barrel race, poddy ride, bucking ponies, stallion chute out, poly saddle ride, Aussie Rules versus Rugby League steer ride challenge, saddle bronc and bareback, and bull ride featuring the big ScreenBull cam, chute cam and instant replays.

Numeralla Folk Festival

The Numeralla Folk Festival is held over three days and takes in Australia Day.

2019 is the forty-fifth year of the Numeralla Folk Festival.

The Festival is the last traditional 'free' folk festival left in Australia, there are no tickets, all entertainment and camping are free. Join a long weekend of music, poetry, dance, markets, dips in the river, yarns around the campfire and convivial conversation.

Highlights of the festival include bush dances, a fun kid's program, dance and music workshops and the blackboard concert. Markets will be held on Sunday where local produce is showcased.

Everyone is welcome to head along to the festival and enjoy a great weekend soaking up the traditional folk festival atmosphere.

Cooma Australia Day Celebrations

Snowies MTB Festival

The iconic Snowy Mountains will once again play host to the ultimate mountain bike experience where riders will be challenged with five stages across three days in rugged mountain terrain. Starting at an altitude of 1260 metre, riders will be tested with over 100 kilometre of rugged mountain terrain, technical single track, a mammoth ascent, and some awe inspiring downhills, making this one of Australia’s most iconic mountain bike stage races.

This event also includes the ‘Thredbo All Mountain Descent’ with a chairlift to the top of Eagles Nest in the shadow of Australia’s highest peak, Mt Kosciuszko followed by six kilometres of epic cross country downhill.

Join them in what is arguably Australia’s most affordable and logistically convenient MTB stage race where you can just relax and focus on the epic riding that only the iconic Snowies can deliver.

Tackle all five stages as a solo; Or share the riding between a team of two or three where one person completes each stage, except for Stage Five; Or choose to do just the 45 kilometre marathon, 30 kilometre or 15 kilometre XC MTB on Sunday in this ‘not to be missed’ Mountain Bike Experience.

Cooma Rodeo

Cooma Rural Australiana Championships Rodeo is an Australian Bushmen's Campdraft and Rodeo Association (ABCRA) affiliated rodeo. The event takes place in the rodeo arena at the Cooma Showground from 2pm, and will provide great spectator viewing.

Exciting events will include: Open Bronc Ride, Open Bull Ride, Open Bare Back, Steer Wrestling, Calf Roping and Ladies Barrel Race.
Bendigo Bank Tumbafest

TreX Cross Triathlon Series - Snowy Mountains

In February the Snowy Mountains will come alive with more off road action.

Located in the heart of Australia’s High Country and starting at an altitude of 1100 metres with Australia’s highest peak, Mt Kosciusko as the backdrop, the course is set to delight and challenge athletes of all levels.

TreX XTri: The XTri is the Australian National Championships.

Home of the 2016 ITU World Champs this course includes some of the best fast and flowing single track mountain bike trails, and gritty off road running trails found anywhere in Australia and includes a standard distance, sprint, junior, dirt kids, duathlon and aquabike courses.

Snowies Ultra Trail Run: This ultimate trail running festival takes in some of the most spectacular running trails in Australia including the 50k Ultra which includes a 530 metre ascent and descent along the spectacular Thredbo Valley.

The 50k Ultra is also accompanied by the Half Marathon, 12 kilometre and 5 kilometre trail runs as well as a free Kids Mud Rats run.

Snowies Ultra Trail Run

Trail Run Australia Snowy Mountains is hosted in conjunction with the TreX Cross Triathlon Series which together make up an action packed weekend of off road events for the entire family.

Taking in some of the most spectacular mountain scenery this ultra trail run is back in 2019 after a sell out at the inaugural 2018 event.

In 2019 the festival is set to add the all new Thredbo Valley Trail from Jindabyne to Lake Crackenback to the course which will delight, challenge and inspire trail runners of all ages and abilities.

Based at Lake Crackenback Resort and Spa. the course follows the beautiful Thredbo Valley Trail (TVT) which undulates and climbs the spectacular Thredbo Valley alongside Thredbo River within Australia’s iconic Kosciuszko National Park.

So whether your a hardcore trail runner, a weekend warrior, someone who just loves getting in to the outdoors, or a family and kids, there’s something for everyone including the 50k Ultra, Half Marathon, 12 kilometre, 5 kilometre and Kids Mud Rats.

Dalgety Show

The Dalgety Show offers animal stalls and pavilions with displays of cattle, sheep and goats, horse jumping and side show alley activities. Come and enjoy a great day out at a country show!

The first show in 1945 was officially held to raise money to build a Memorial Hall to honour soldiers fighting in the war. This show, described by one involved as 'a pretty rough turnout' was followed by several shows that didn't make any money and where no records were kept. However, the fact that the show has been successfully held every year since then is a tribute to the ingenuity and determination of the small community.

A quilt exhibition is also held in conjunction with the Show and is held in the Memorial Hall.
Cooma Show

In the main arena show jumping, horse ring events, yard dog trials, tree felling, woodchop, tug of war will be held, and there will also be a variety of performers on hand to keep you entertained; and of course the Animal and Produce Pavilions will be open with great displays.
Bombala Show

The Bombala Show is a traditional country show that offers a unique experience for people of all ages and showcases the local regions produce and country hospitality.

This wonderful day and night event is jam-packed with attractions including traditional livestock exhibits and art and craft displays. The pavilion is brimming with homemade cakes, preserves, floral displays, paintings and needlework to name but a few.

Other great attractions include the Bombala show girl, yard dog trials, historic engineer and machinery displays and trade exhibits. The ring events are always well contested.
Australian Alpine Ascent Ultra

The Australian Alpine Ascent (AAA) Ultra Festival is specifically designed to be one of the world’s most gruelling challenges. The festival includes three trail runs - 12 kilometres, 25 kilometres and 50 kilometres.

You’ll cross through the scenic Kosciuszko National park, with a stunning start and finish at Charlotte Pass Village; it’s brutal, but it’s beautiful and the courses have been designed to showcase the very best of the Snowy Mountains along the way.

This Festival is quickly becoming the Southern Hemispheres benchmark event, testing speed, stamina and strength and is expected to draw a world-class group of endurance athletes set to take on new heights Down Under.
Snowy Valleys Cycle Challenge

The Snowy Valleys Cycle Challenge will be held in March 2019. It is a personal challenge event rather than a race. The Rotary Club of Tumut, with the assistance of the Rotary Clubs of Batlow and Tumbarumba, have organised three rides of varied length and challenge through the picturesque foothills of the Snowy Mountains near Adelong, Batlow and Tumbarumba.

These rides are:-
a) 26 kilometre with 429 metres of climbing and a target time of 2.5 hours.
b) 72 kilometre with 1378 metres of climbing and a target time of five hours.
c)144 kilometre with 2568 metres of climbing and a target time of 9.6 hours.

Support vehicles and water/nutrition stations will be supplied.
The events will start and finish at the Adelong showground where a range of food, drink and entertainment will be available.
RedAss Downhill State Championships - Thredbo

    Rocky Trail will kick off their downhill state racing series with the ultimate weekend of Gravity Racing at one of THE most popular downhill destinations in NSW - Thredbo!

    Events include a Fox Superflow Enduro State race on Saturday and the RedAss NSW/ACT Downhill State Championships on Sunday.

    Thredbo is the ideal playground for racers - the downhillers practice all Saturday and will get the chance to sneak in a Rollercoaster race. Racing will be on Sunday on the challenging and steep Thredbo downhill track.

    Both tracks will be marked and open for practice on the Friday; Thredbo MTB will offer discounted lift tickets for all racers on that day. Rocky Trail event entries will include lift tickets for the weekend; combo-entries for both events will be offered.

    Rocky Trail brings you a whole weekend of Gravity Racing at the most popular downhill destination in NSW - Thredbo!

    Events include a Fox Superflow endur event on Saturday and a RedAss Downhill State Round on Sunday. Thredbo is the ideal playground for racers - the downhillers practice all Saturday and get the chance to sneak in a Superflow enduro race. Racing on Sunday will be on the challenging and steep Thredbo downhill track.

    For the gravity enduro racers it's all about exploring the Flow Trail at Thredbo - it's riding with your mates and adding a bit of competition. The race track will require some fitness and technical skills, and a give you a sense of adventure - equally exciting for all types of mountain bikers including cross country riders, weekend trail riders, and downhillers alike.
Adaminaby Easter Fair

Festival of the Falling Leaf

Autumn in Tumut offers one of the most spectacular display of seasonal colours to be found anywhere in New South Wales.

In 1954 the local headmaster, Alf Wood, introduced the idea of a festival to celebrate the arrival of autumn and the falling leaves which characterised the town’s many parks and gardens.

Alf enlisted the support of the Rotary Club of Tumut and The Tumut Festival of the Falling Leaf was born.

The initial aim of the festival was to foster an appreciation of nature’s colours to both the local community and visitors through a series of events over a period of ten days.



Over the years the Festival of the Falling Leaf, like the season it represents, has seen many changes, but, has continued to flourish and grow into a fabulous annual event attracting thousand of visitors far and wide.

In 2018 the Festival will celebrate its sixty-fourth anniversary. A remarkable effort for a community based festival. The event is well supported by the Tumut Shire, the local business community and the Shire residents.

John Briscoe Art Award Exhibition

The John Briscoe Memorial Art Prize is the Monaro's most prestigious art award and is sponsored by the Briscoe family in memory of their father, a prominent Monaro artist.

There are a variety of categories recognising the artistic talent in the Cooma Monaro and Snowy River Region. These include water colours, oils and more. Awards are given in the category sections, overall best entry and viewer's choice.

Artists are invited to submit work to be judged for generous prizes.

In 2018 the exhibition is expected to open on Saturday, May 5.

The Gallery will be open Wednesday to Sunday 9.30pm to 4.30pm.

Perisher Peak Festival

NSW Interschools Snowsports Championships

The Interschools Snowsports Championships encourages students of all abilities and levels to compete for their school in a competitive snowsports competition.

Students can compete in up to seven snow sports disciplines for skiers and snowboarders. It focuses on fun in skiing and snowboarding at the regional Championships; all set in a framework of friendly competition.

As the competition steps up to the State and National levels, the level of competition and the difficulty of the courses also steps up; but always with a sense of fair and enjoyable competition.



The Interschools Championships is a starting block for further snow sports competition and has seen 20 Olympians start their career at Interschools competitions. During the Northern winter, everyone enjoys hearing results from former and current Interschools participants who are representing Australia overseas.

Cross Country Ski Week

Cross Country Ski Week is a week for all XC enthusiasts whether you're a beginner or a seasoned racer. Be part of a week long celebration of this great activity. Plenty for all whether you are into testing yourself via a race, improving your skiing or simply having fun in the snow.

Between 14 to 16 events in all, over a nine day period. Mystery Coffee Tours, Laser Biathlon, Ski Orienteering, social events and other fun events organised.

XC Ski Week is a great opportunity to improve your skills in a fun, supportive and unique environment while learning more about Cross Country.

Dalgety Team Penning

The Dalgety Team Penning horse riding event is run by the Dalgety Show Society on the Saturday and is an event the whole family can enjoy.

The Team Penning event involves a team of four riders, three of which must cut three head of cattle with the same colour neck collar from the herd of 21 cattle in a yard.



The Snowy River Shears shearing competition will also be held on the Saturday.

Barbecue and bar facilities will also be operating.

The Snowy River Saddle Up Sunday will be held the next day. There will be 'horsey' fun for the whole family to enjoy. Entries can be made on the day.

Lanterns on the Lagoon

    Lanterns on the Lagoon and Sculptures in the Park is a Spring Festival celebrating community, environment and culture.

    Lanterns on the Lagoon features a sculpture competition, the sculptures being created from recycled and natural materials. The sculptures are displayed in Pioneer Park by the Tumut River, and the magnificent trees and beautiful lagoon provide a serene backdrop for the works of art. During the evening the sculptures are enhanced by solar lighting giving them another dimension.

    Lanterns are released onto the lagoon just prior to dusk, and become a spectacular display of light and reflection.

    Children's activities and inspiring musical performances enhance the evening all at no cost to the public, and a variety of gourmet food and drink stalls are available.
Hume and Hovell Ultra

2019: The Hume and Hovell Ultra 100 kilometres has been selected by the Australian Ultra Running Association, AURA, as the Long Trail, Australian National Championships as part of the event.

Hume and Hovell Ultra - 100 mile, 100 kilometres, 50 kilometres and 22 kilometres on a section of the historic Hume and Hovell Walking Track with an overall elevation of 4088 metres. All distances except the 22 kilometres are out and back from Henry Angel Trackhead, nine kilometres south of Tumbarumba on the Tooma Road.

Located in the stunning Snowy Mountains, the Hume Hovell Ultra will challenge your ability as well as inspire your success. Run with the wild brumbies, past pioneer cottages and through rugged mountain ranges, natural forests, pine plantations, past lakes and waterfalls, along narrow winding (95 percent) of single trails.



Bonus drop bag stations, spot trackers for the 100 milers and an amazing country hospitality welcome.

All finishers receive medals and certificates. Recognised by the International Trail Running Association (ITRA) , earning points to enter the prestigious Ultra Trail Mont Blonc (UTMB). International Bronze Label holder and under the Australian Ultra Runners Association (AURA) banner.

Snowy Mountains Trout Festival

This year will be the 43rd year of the Yamaha / Freshwater Fishing Snowy Mountains Trout Festival.

All you have to do is enter this years event and attend the prize presentation to be in the draw for the Fantastic new Quintrex 390 Explorer boat, with 15hp Yamaha motor and trailer prize valued at over AUD10,000.00.

This years competition is made possible with the continued support from Yamaha Motor Aust.

The organisers thank Yamaha, Quintrex and Ken's Marine for their generosity and hope that you will be able to support them in the future.

The committee hopes that you will enjoy the fishing and sites which the beautiful Snowy Mountains area has to offer, and look forward to seeing you all again.

Snowy Ride

The Snowy Ride is a motorcycle event run annually with the aim of involving motorcycle riders from all over Australia to raise money for Childhood Cancer Research.

It's an opportunity for riders to enjoy a weekend away with friends and family and to ride some of Australia's best and most picturesque roads.

Snowy Ride checkpoints are located at Adaminaby, Dalgety, Berridale, Jindabyne, Cooma, Bombala, Charlotte Pass and riders are to be at the final checkpoint in Thredbo by 4pm on the Saturday.

The first Snowy Ride was launched in 2001 as a request from Steven Walter, a young man who lost his fight against cancer. Steve loved motorcycle riding and asked that a charity motorcycle ride be organised to raise funds for cancer research and cancer care.

Australian National Busking Championships

The Australian National Busking Championships (ANBC) is now in its eighth year.

The event is now held in several towns around Australia, including Stanthorpe, Narooma, Ballarat and Gundagai.

The finals are then held in the picturesque town of Cooma, gateway to the Snowy Mountains in Southern NSW.



The ANBC is a different sort of music festival for Australia.

The ANBC is a celebration of all styles of music because the Buskers who perform bring a huge variety of music to the event.

Pre-registered Buskers are assigned special locations (Busking Hot Spots) at various times around the Central Business District of Cooma.

Judges roaming throughout the day select a number of Buskers to perform at the finals concert held in Centennial Park later that afternoon.



Battle rounds are held and the judges and audience make their final decision on the winners.

Cooma Motorfest

Organised by the Cooma Car Club and occurring every two years, Cooma Motorfest presents a display of all things motorised including large trucks and machinery, cars old and new and in between, hot rods, street machines, original cars to way out, tractors, stationary engines, motor bikes, boats, large trade display and live music and military display.

There are also activities for the kids and food stalls.

Motorfest is held on the same weekend as the Snowy Ride and Australian National Busking Championships offering visitors plenty of variety.

Michelago Spring Fair

This fun day out is a joint venture between Michelago RFS, Landcare, Michelago Public School, Michelago Memorial Hall and the Michelago Region Community Association.

The day includes country fair stalls, plenty of good food, live music and activities for the children.

Stall holders are asked to book their stalls before the end of September.

Previously called the Michelago May Fair, the month has been changed as well as the name.

Come on out to Michelago and enjoy wonderful country hospitality.

Annual Bredbo Sheep Dog Trials

This is grazier country so dog trials are part of the scene. Held over three days there are a number of categories from novice through to open championships. Come and experience a taste of country life and watch the skills of owner and dog as they work amongst the sheep.
Bring your chairs, picnic and enjoy the free entertainment and watch some of the best sheep dogs in the country.
L’Étape Australia by Le Tour de France

L’Étape Australia by Le Tour de France is a unique road cycling event that provides an experience as close to riding in the Tour de France as it is possible for an amateur to get.

Staged in the Australian NSW Snowy Mountains on 170 kilometres of fully closed roads and run under professional Tour de France race conditions, the route includes two challenging King of the Mountain sections.
