Kulture Klash Festival - Kawana Waters Hotel

Raising funds for Beyond Blue is the first Kulture Klash at Kawana Waters Hotel.

Bring your car for the car show, come dance to some rockabilly or surf rock music from Brisbane bands, shop at their kustom markets, or just cheer on the 1950s vintage style pinups in the Miss Kulture Klash pinup pageant.

Sailor Jerry will have the airstream, and they'll have raffles to raise funds for Beyond Blue.

Topology’s Queensland at Home Tour - Gympie

Packing an illustrious 20 years as one of Queensland’s finest arts organisations, ARIA nominated Topology have become a staple sound of their hometown in Brisbane. In their most recent endeavours Topology have teamed up with the Queensland State Library to create ‘Queensland at Home’ a time capsule of vintage film accompanied by a live original score performed by the band to paint an evocative portrait of life in Queensland dating back to the early 20th Century.

Set to tour Queensland at Home across 42 towns throughout 34 local government areas, the work features an original score by Topology's Robert Davidson inspired by the sights and sounds of times past and a compelling compilation of Queenslanders engaging in everyday activities.

In addition to the live performances, the tour will incorporate 45 workshops as part of the Top Up Music Education program, facilitating local students and community participants to compose their own live score to be featured at the performance alongside Queensland at Home.

AFL Queensland Schools Cup - State Preliminary Finals and State Grand Finals 2018

The AFL Queensland Schools Cup (AFLQSCup) is AFL Queensland’s premier schools’ competition. The state-wide inter-school competition is open to public, private and independent schools across six competitive divisions: Primary Male, Primary Female, Junior Male, Junior Female, Senior Male and Senior Female.

The AFLQSCup is a free competition for schools and provides equitable pathways for male and female students. The competition is resourced and administered by AFL Queensland.

Schools begin the competition in localised gala days in either the South East Queensland or North Queensland Conferences, with Regional Champions progressing into the knockout State Qualifying Finals.

The competition culminates in the AFLQSCup State Preliminary and Grand Finals on the Sunshine Coast, with 24 teams in attendance. The six North Queensland champions are flown down for an all expenses paid weekend on the Sunshine Coast including a day of sightseeing.

Six State Champions are crowned on Sunday, 21 October.

The Blackall 100

This is a fun project for all the family to participate in to support the struggling farmers. In this introductory course, Karl will share some simple meditations to calm and stabilise our busy “Monkey Mind” so that we can make clear choices and have a positive effect on ourselves and others. There’ll be plenty of time for questions and discussion.

Established 1974, Chenrezig Institute is a centre for Buddhist study, meditation, retreat and practice nestled in the foothills of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. The Institute is home to a Tibetan Geshe (Lama), a large community of ordained Sangha (monks and nuns), students, residents, volunteers, retreat goers and guests.

Apart from the formal study programmes, Chenrezig Institute is a peaceful, calm and relaxing place to spend a few hours, days or weeks. Stroll along the bush paths, wander in formal garden, espresso in the cafe or a vegetarian meal.

A rare opportunity to work with one of Australia’s most esteemed contemporary artists, Godwin Bradbeer. Deepen your comprehension of your visual self in this masterclass drawing studies of the head and upper body. Create a series of structural studies of two models from both short and long poses.

The tutor will provide substantial information by demonstration and frequent reference to historic and contemporary practices. Personal expression and gesture will be encouraged. Base materials for the session will be charcoal, pastel and conte. The work will be linear, tonal and gestural.

The physical image will be created by a physical process. Be willing to get your hands dirty! Bring your own lunch. Both beginners and very experienced persons will benefit. Session helpful for folio consolidation.

In January, 2015, American rock climbers Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson captivated the world with their effort to climb the Dawn Wall, a seemingly impossible 3,000 foot rock face in Yosemite National Park, California. The pair lived on the sheer vertical cliff for weeks, igniting a frenzy of global media attention.

But for Tommy Caldwell, the Dawn Wall was much more than just a climb. It was the culmination of a lifetime defined by overcoming obstacles. At the age of 22, the climbing prodigy was taken hostage by rebels in Kyrgyzstan. Shortly after, he lost his index finger in an accident, but resolved to come back stronger.

Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival

Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival is a five-day hallmark event, based in Noosa on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland and includes a stacked line-up of events for all ages and abilities.

The schedule includes a Breakfast Fun Run and a Run Swim Run event. Super Saturday is one of the highlights of the event with the Superkidz and Special Triathlon in the morning and the Subaru Noosa Australian Open Criterium and Asics Noosa Bolt in the afternoon, which also includes the Legends Triathlon with all the events attracting a premium field and sporting legends.

The crown event is the Noosa Triathlon on Sunday, which has continued its prime position of the largest standard distance race in the world. Welcome Open Day at Chenrezig Institute

Welcome Days are filled with opportunities to explore the Chenrezig Institute with the whole family for a relaxing day out! Head into reception and their friendly team will welcome you with a map and answer program questions you have.

At 9am and 10am younger family members will enjoy the fun activities in their Kind Kids Program in their temple. Wander to the Garden of Enlightenment to see the building that drew His Holiness the Dalai Lama here in 2011.

Between 10.30am and 11.30am one of Chenrezig Institute's resident nuns will welcome you to their temple and, after a short introduction, share a peaceful guided meditation. Relax in the sun on the prayer wheel lawn then to the temple for Geshe Tsultrim’s talk "What do Buddhists believe?" at 1.30pm.

Visit their art studio for a workshop on traditional Buddhist painting.

All activities on Welcome Day are freely offered, with the exception of Lunch in the Big Love Café which is AUD12.50 per person. Please book your lunch by 10am on the day of the event and let them know if you’ll need a gluten or dairy free meal so that they can prepare something delicious for you.

Maleny Singers present Mozart's comic opera "The Marriage of Figaro"

This well known opera, shortened and directed by Margaret Taylor, will be accompanied by a 22 piece orchestra.

The cast of well known Maleny Singers will include Colin Dunn, Evalee Sharples, Tony Glazebrook, Viera Keogh and newcomer Sarah-Jane Abbott.

It is a lively and entertaining plot filled with many favourite arias, duets, and ensembles.

In this production, there will be a couple of narrators – Wendy-Merefield Ward and Christopher Ward, who will guide the audience through the many twists and turns of the story.

All rooms at the 5 North Street Centre will be filled with an interesting and exciting selection of handicrafts including Pottery, Woodwork, original Art and Pastels to Handmade Lace, Quilting, Embroidery and Jewellery (to name but a few!). Christmas is not far away so this is an ideal opportunity to get in and purchase some early gifts. Handmade Christmas decorations and cards are a feature.

Eftpos facilities are available, plenty of free parking too. The cake stall featuring genuine homemade goodies, including pickles, jams, slices and cakes is extremely popular and sells out very quickly. The festival starts with the Cooroy Fish n Chips Santa Sack Races, where every child who participates wins a prize!
After that the crowd gathers down the sides of Maple Street to watch the Bendigo Bank Street Parade with this year's theme being “Past, Present and Future”. Full of floats, costumes, decorations, and maybe even a few treats. Winding up Maple Street and back down again. The ever-popular East versus West Tug-of-War competition starts shortly after the Parade with The Shed at Cooroy putting up an East Side team against Cooroy Computers West Side team.

And as if that wasn’t enough, the big man in red, Santa Claus, will be making an appearance so he can chat to the children of Cooroy and give them all a sweet treat sponsored by Gelignite Jacks.
Workshop: Painted Stories In Black and White

Get back to basics in this black and white painting workshop that explores creating a visual story inspired by Australian flora and fauna. Learn to use techniques such as dry brush and paint washes on a dark surface.

Play with light and contrast to create detailed paintings in monotone. Assisted by local mural artist EJ Zyla, participants will each design and paint a cube panel that will join together to create a panoramic scene wrapped around the community cubes to be displayed at the gallery.

The event runs over three days and consists of a 10 kilometre swim and 145 kilometre bike ride on day one. On day two there will be a 276 kilometre bike ride and on day three there will be a 84.3 kilometre run.

Volkswagen Scramble Championship Final

In 2018/2019 the Volkswagen Scramble celebrates its 27th Anniversary season and an exciting new chapter in the event’s extensive history, with Volkswagen the events new naming rights partner.

The Championship Final, which is held at the magnificent Twin Waters Golf Club and Novotel Twin Waters Resort, is the culmination of the event and comprises teams of five (four amateurs and their PGA Club Professional) competing in full tournament conditions. The tournament is held over four days and includes a line up of social activities and golf, with the top half of the field being joined by a PGA Tour Professional on the final day's play.

Over 30000 players compete in the event at local level every year for the chance to win through to the experience of a lifetime at the Championship Final. The teams that compete have qualified through their local event (400 plus held nationally) and Regional Final for a position in the Championship Final.

Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show

In 2019 the Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show celebrates its 114th show. This Show will present an exciting new program with new attractions and events for the whole family to enjoy.

Programming is still being developed and they will update you as their new and exciting program is locked into place.

It is anticipated that their wonderful fireworks display from 2018 will be back again, bigger and better than before - although that will be hard to beat.

They will see more live music performances and busking, so you can shake it or toe tap for three fun days.

With so much to see and do at the 2019 Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show, they look forward to welcoming you!

Knitfest - Yarn and Fibre Arts Festival

The Sunshine Coast hinterland town of Maleny explodes in a sea of colour as the Knitfest Yarn and Fibre Arts festival takes over the town for the first weekend in July each year. Yarnbombing showcases this event where the town’s streetscape is wrapped in art, as the Knitfest Team yarnbomb trees, buildings and inanimate objects.

The festival hosts 30 workshops, guest speakers, music, 60 trade stalls, a Suitcase Market, demonstrations and competitions, entertainment.

Take the free Knitfest Bus as it weaves around the Festival Precinct, past the colourful decorated trees and down to the Showgrounds where the Queensland Alpaca Association's Fleece and Halter show is on. The theme this year is Outer Space/Sci-Fi so it's no surprise that the Brisbane Astronomical Society have joined the event for a huge Stargazing night. Tickets for the Workshops and Stargazing night are available online on their website.

Knitfest volunteers have been working hard to prepare the many yarnbombing projects for this year's event. If you would like to become involved, sell your crafts or enter the many competitions in this creative festival, please contact the Festival Team, all ages welcome.

Knitfest is a free, fun day out for the whole family.

Queensland Garden Expo

Queensland Garden Expo is a three day celebration of gardening.

The event attracts over 40,000 green thumbs and novice gardeners from across Queensland and interstate. Held at Nambour on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, it is ideally situated to showcase all the best of subtropical gardening.



An extensive Lecture and Demonstration Program, Landscape Display Gardens, over 360 exhibits including 55 nurseries, a Giant Kitchen Garden Feature and a Gardeners and Gourmets cooking stage are just a few of the things visitors can enjoy at the Expo.

Great food, entertainment and a range of free children's activities all combine to make Queensland Garden Expo a great day out for all the family.

Tom Quilty Gold Cup 2019

Tom Quilty Gold Cup is the annual national championship event for equestrian endurance.

This event rotates between states and in July 2019 will be hosted by Stirling's Crossing Endurance Club at Stirling's Crossing Equestrian Complex, Imbil.



The Tom Quilty Gold Cup is strongly contended by endurance riders throughout Australia, with interstate and international competitors participating.



It is anticipated that up to 400 horses may nominate to cover the 160 kilometres of forest tracks with the aim of successfully completing; front runners could complete this task in less than 10 hours.

GPS tracking will assist spectators to monitor rider and horse as they traverse the challenging tracks of Imbil.

Rider and horse combinations leave the ride base at midnight on Friday 14 July 2019 and have until midnight Saturday 15 July to complete the course.

For many riders the aim is to complete and earn a "Quilty buckle"; for some there is a dream of winning the coveted Tom Quilty Gold Cup.

7 Sunshine Coast Marathon

7 Sunshine Coast Marathon and Community Running Festival is one of the most-loved running festivals in Australia.  Since its inception the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon has raised over one million dollars for charity and community groups.

It is the host of the Australian Half Marathon Championships.

Located on the stunning Sunshine Coast, Queensland near the barrier reef and Steve Irwin’s iconic Australia Zoo, this not-for-profit event has been timed to make the most of the ideal Queensland winter running conditions.
