James Cottage was originally built in the late 1800's as a private residence, and is a classic example of Federation architecture. The red-brick house boasts intricate iron lace and balustrades. Eleven foot pressed metal ceilings display intricate Art Nouveau designs. Original hoop pine floors, cast iron and tiled fireplaces, and a grand leadlight door contribute to old world charm.
Guests experience a step-back into the past, while still enjoying modern comforts. James Cottage has two guest rooms with queen beds and individual ensuites. The rooms are tastefully furnished with antiques and original artwork, and are equipped with reverse cycle air-conditioners.
James Cottage is centrally located and a short walk to eateries, restaurants, Queen's Park and Botanic Gardens, Cobb & Co Museum, the Empire Theatre, the Cathedral Centre, Visitor Information Centre and Lake Annand with its recreational walking tracks. James Cottage has been designed as a retreat for adults and does not cater for children or pets.
