The Flypast Museum of Australian Army Flying gives you the chance to experience the adventure and romance of their pioneer military aviators, and marvel at their skill and courage.

Discover the days when pilots flew by the seat of their pants in aircraft made of wood, fabric and wire. Every aircraft flown by the Australian Army since World War II is represented alongside other unique aircraft.

From Box Kite to Blackhawk, Australian Army Aviation continues to serve Australia. During World War II, Number 6 Aircraft Depot was established at Oakey as a key RAAF station in the South West Pacific area. Aircraft such as Beaufort, Boomerang, Kittyhawk, Lancaster, Mustang, Norseman, Spitfire and Wirraway were serviced, repaired and test flown here until February 1946. The field now houses Blackhawk, Iroquois and Kiowa helicopters and Nomad aeroplanes among others.
