Gowrie Mountain Estate is 'a must' destination for tourists who are interested in regional quality wines. Wines produced from this 'state of the art' vineyard have won accolades across Australia including 76 medals at accredited wine shows and four trophies including the Best Queensland White Wine at the Royal Queensland Wine Show.
Gowrie Mountain is conveniently located only 15 minutes west of the Toowoomba central business district on the Warrego Highway.
It grows 10 varieties, from the established Shiraz-Cabernet and Chardonnay to the unusual yet beautiful varieties such as Gamay, Tempranello, Petit Verdo and Torrega, all of which make outstanding wines.
Visitors are welcomed and offered tastings at the unusual underground cellar at Gowrie Mountain, which is open at weekends from 12.30 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. or during any weekday by phoning the Homestead to arrange a time.
The Gowrie Homestead is also an icon and is offered to travellers as an overnight Bed and Breakfast destination. This huge home was built in 1870 and fully restored in 2000, allowing travellers the opportunity to experience that 'olde world' of relaxed living that has almost disappeared and experience the relaxed lifestyle of an almost bygone era.
