Ball Park Music – Good Good Mood Tour

Ball Park Music have announced their 'Good Good Mood Tour', taking their latest album 'Good Mood' and favourite hits to regional towns and cities all around Australia. Joining them on the road will be indie singer-songwriters Tia Gostelow and Butternut Sweetheart.

2018 was a tremendous year for Ball Park Music. Their fifth record 'Good Mood' debuted at #6 on the ARIA chart and received ARIA Award nominations for Best Cover Art, Best Producer and Best Engineer. triple j listeners voted it their #1 album of 2018 in triple j’s Album Poll. Hamilton Island Endurance Series - Great Whitehaven Beach Run

Pristine white beaches. Crystal clear waters. A breathtaking mountainous interior. Hamilton Island is best known as a place to relax. But it is also the perfect place to push yourself in paradise.

The Hamilton Island Endurance series spans five endurance events from May through to November each year. The Hamilton Half Marathon, Clash of the Paddles, Great Whitehaven Beach Run, Hamilton Island Triathlon and Whitehaven Beach Ocean Swim will test athletes on every level.

Every June, keen runners take to the pristine sands of the famous Whitehaven Beach for the fun and challenging Great Whitehaven Beach Run. This is a unique and memorable experience, and with a five distance events to choose from including a challenging 21 kilometre half marathon and a 1.5 kilometre or 500 metre Fun Run, it is suitable for the whole family.

Best Life Event and The Killer Queen Experience

On Saturday 6, Whitsunday Suicide Prevention Network are bringing some great acts to the stage such as Dream Guards, The Killer Queen Experience, guest speakers and Jacuzzi Masterpiece.

Dream Guards will deliver a high energy show that is all s about sharing stories of overcoming life trauma in a unique, engaging and fun way to help people develop the skills they will need to build resilience and overcome adversity while improving their mental health and well-being.

A great draw card to this event is their headliner act The Killer Queen Experience who have had sold out tours nationwide on their Bohemian Rhapsody tour.

In addition to this, the line up includes the funky Jacuzzi Masterpiece band supporting both events. This Saturday event will be a great family day which will showcasing local services providers and promote positive mental health messages.
Bowen Offshore Superboats

In 2019, for the sixth consecutive year, Bowen will host a round of the Australian Offshore Superboat Championships. After the success of the previous years, the local community is very excited that the boats are back!

Each year, the Bowen Superboats put the spotlight on Edgecumbe Bay, the Bowen Marina and Foreshore area. It is the largest on water event in Bowen, and is free for the community to attend. Upwards of 15 boats compete and reach speeds in excess of 200 kilometres per hour. The teams bring with them a cast of hundreds - from pit crews to family, friends and loyal supporters- all with a need for speed and all keen to soak up the best the region has to offer.

The Bowen Offshore Superboats are hosted by Bowen Tourism and Business and Offshore Superboats Australia and are proudly supported by the Whitsunday Regional Council.
Cruise Whitsundays Airlie Beach Running Festival 2019

The Cruise Whitsundays Airlie Beach Running Festival is held annually in one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world. It is the Whitsunday’s premier running event and the largest onshore mass participation event in the region.

It caters for athletes of all ages (0-100) and different levels of fitness. The event has runs of varying distances from a one kilometre family fun run through to a full marathon.

All these runs are off road along boardwalks and footpaths giving the participants breathtaking views over the ocean out to the famous Whitsunday islands.

All events use the same course, providing spectators and supporters the opportunity of seeing their athlete on more than one occasion.

Whitsunday Reef Festival

The Whitsunday Reef Festival celebrates the Great Barrier Reef and what it means to live in Airlie Beach, Whitsundays - the "Heart of the Reef". The region's favourite festival is a delicious combination of family fun, all-night celebrations, local food and fashion and some of the biggest parties in the north.

The four-day celebration of the reef will feature the spectacular Fireworks on the Foreshore on Friday August 2 complete with live music and DJs, carnival rides, food stalls and night markets lining the beautiful Airlie Beach foreshore. Airlie's Main Street is closed to traffic on the Saturday to host Revvin' the Reef vintage car show, the reef themed Rotary Street Parade and the Whitsunday Magic Mile Run.

The Beach Music stage will be pumping the region’s top live music and entertainment on the foreshore throughout the weekend. Other events include reef art installations and education, Comedy Gala, Telstra Family Fun Day, Wilmar Sugar Wearable Art Parade, helicopter joy rides and cocktails at the "Pop-up" Beach Bar making Reef Festival a perfect time to enjoy the gorgeous Whitsunday winter.
Airlie Beach Race Week Festival of Sailing

The Whitsunday Sailing Club is located in Airlie Beach, gateway to the Central Region of Queensland‘s Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. It is also the Gateway to the Whitsunday Islands and fast becoming known as one of the World’s premier sailing destinations.

Airlie Beach is also home to one of the largest yacht racing regattas in Australia, Airlie Beach Race Week and its onshore Festival of Sailing.

Hosted by the Whitsunday Sailing Club and now in its 31st year, Airlie Beach Race Week is a seven day event that attracts entrants from all over Australia and overseas.

Offshore the Regatta offers classes from IRC competitive racing through to cruising divisions attracting around 1450 competitors, officials and volunteers.

Onshore the Festival of Sailing, is the Whitsunday Coasts’ most significant public event, presenting seven days and nights of high profile, entertainment and social activities. In 2018 attendances peaked at close to 11000.

In 2019 the onshore Social Program will include free live entertainment food stalls, a festival fun run, a long lunch and beer and wine tastings.
Hamilton Island Race Week

Hamilton Island Race Week is one of Australia's favourite yachting events and a firm fixture on the international sailing calendar. Competitors, family and friends come together to enjoy the convivial atmosphere and unique camaraderie of the event's on-water and off-water carnival. Every August, spectators and yachties from around the globe sail to Hamilton Island for Hamilton Island Race Week - Australia's largest offshore keelboat regatta.

Perfectly situated on the edge of the Great Barrier Reef, amongst Queensland's 74 Whitsunday Islands, Hamilton Island offers an experience like no other: glorious weather, azure waters, brilliant beaches, awe-inspiring coral reefs, fascinating flora and fauna, fine food and wines, and activities almost too numerous to mention.
Walk to the Lighthouse

The annual community Walk to the Lighthouse celebrates the rich history of Bowen as the oldest town in the North, the town's connection to a maritime past and the rich sea life that calls Port Dension and Edgecumbe Bay home.

Upon departing the mainland, Lighthouse walkers follow an exposed sand spit in a curving path towards the North Head Island. If you're a first-time walker beware! Your feet will get a little wet and they suggest wearing reef boots or old sneakers!

As you make your way to the half-way point - keeps your eyes down and you'll get a surprise! Very quickly you'll notice many giant red starfish dotting the sandy shallows!

When you reach the North Head Island it is a short climb to the peak and the Lighthouse. You can look back towards Bowen and the hinterland framing the view - or turn your gaze South East and towards the magnificent Gloucester Island.

Following the walk, relax with live music, bar and refreshments on the point and watch the sun set over Bowen, turning the islands pink.
Run The Great Whitsunday Trail

Run The Great Whitsunday Trail takes you on a 28.7 kilometre adventure through the beautiful rainforest of the Conway National Park, starting at Brandy Creek and finishing at the Airlie Beach Lagoon. It is a demanding course with many steep uphill and downhill sections with uneven ground.

Also included for the second time is the 57.4 kilometre Ultra which will really test the runners ability. Runners must have competed previous like events and also trained well for this event.

Brand new event added in 2018 - "The Honeyeater Challenge" - 10.5 kilometres.

Airlie Beach Festival of Music
